Health Unit Coordinator WIS at BH
Overview
As a Health Unit Coordinator WIS at BH, you will play a crucial role in supporting the overall operational efficiency of the unit. You will be responsible for various administrative tasks and maintaining accurate patient records.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a receptionist to the assigned unit; answers phones, relays messages.
- Greets and directs patients, visitors, physicians, and families, answering questions about policies and procedures.
- Acts as a liaison among nursing units, physicians, and staff to relay patient data.
- Screens requests for patient information and refers to appropriate staff.
- Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency.
- Participates in the resolution of customer problems and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.
- Maintains complete patient records with admission, transfer, and discharge information.
- Enters pending discharges into the system and coordinates patient appointments.
Required Skills, Tools, and Years of Experience
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Requires 1 year of medical clerical experience; preferably in a hospital or physician office setting.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills, human relations, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy.
- Knowledge of commonly used office software and keyboarding skills.
- Preferred completion of BLS certification.
